It handles version control, prevents two engineers from editing the same file simultaneously (check-in\u002Fcheck-out), and manages parent-child relationships in assemblies. \n\nIf your problem is \"We keep losing CAD files and overriding each other's work,\" you need PDM.\n\n### PLM is for the Enterprise\n\nPLM encompasses PDM, but expands the scope to the entire lifecycle of the product.
